Hey there, Brazos Valley! As we gear up for next Monday, November 11th, it’s time to celebrate our incredible veterans. Veterans Day is a special day where we come together to honor those who have bravely served in our armed forces. This year, the community has planned a wealth of activities, events, and some exciting promotions galore! Whether you’re looking to pay tribute, join in a workout, or even enjoy a parade, there’s something for everyone.
Let’s kick things off with a heartfelt tribute that the community will be showcasing. Flag placements will be happening at various cemeteries starting bright and early:
If you’re the active type or just want to get your heart pumping, consider joining the Veterans Day “Chad” Workout at Sawed-Off Crossfit located at 4000 Harvey Road, College Station, beginning at 8 a.m. This workout is held in honor of Navy Seal Chad Wilkinson, who tragically lost his life in 2018. It’s a great way to get moving while supporting a meaningful cause.
For those who love a good parade, head on down to downtown Madisonville at 1215 East Collard Street, where festivities will kick off at 8 a.m. Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and show your support for our veterans as local organizations and community members celebrate their service.
For families looking to enjoy some quality time, join the Barbara Bush Storytime at the George HW Bush Presidential Library & Museum. This delightful event runs from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. It’s a chance for kids to listen to inspiring stories about the lives of our heroes.
Later in the evening, head over to Watercrest at Bryan (3801 East Crest Drive, Bryan) for a Veterans Day concert starting from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It’s a lovely opportunity to relax and enjoy some great music!
Our community will also host a series of formal observances to honor our veterans:
If you’re a veteran looking for work, don’t miss the Bryan Hiring Red, White & You! Job Fair at the Brazos Valley Council of Governments at 3991 East 29th Street in Bryan. This job fair will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., connecting veterans with potential employers.
For a more local flavor, join the community at the A Veterans Day Celebration happening at Sul Ross Cafeteria (3300 Parkway Terrace, Bryan) beginning at 2 p.m. Come mingle and enjoy a food-filled afternoon!
As the day winds down, consider attending the Texas A&M Military Appreciation Game where the Aggies take on New Mexico State Pistol Pete at Kyle Field starting at 6:45 p.m. It’s a perfect finale to an incredible day of remembrance and celebration!
As you make plans for Veterans Day, take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made by our brave servicemen and women. The Brazos Valley has a rich tradition of honoring its veterans, and this year is no different. From heartfelt ceremonies and fitness activities to family-oriented fun and job opportunities, get out there and celebrate!
Remember, all of these events will show our appreciation and support for the heroes who have served our country and kept our freedoms alive. Happy Veterans Day, Brazos Valley! Let’s make it a memorable one.
