An interview with a local, Miguelangel Ponce, provided an unnerving first-hand account of the rising vehicular crimes. Ponce was a victim himself, waking up to an ordinary Friday morning only to find his car had vanished overnight, to his sheer disbelief. Locking Vehicles Might Not Be Sufficient
However, Deputy Chris Searles from the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office shed light on the fact that simple locking of vehicles may not suffice in curbing these thefts. He informed that there are easily accessible applications that can find, and reprogram key fobs. Furthermore, the traditional method of forcibly accessing the stereo column and rewiring it poses yet another threat.
