An earnest call for volunteers has been issued by the United Way of the Brazos Valley (UWBV) for their Annual Day of Action event, slated for Thursday, June 20th. This event has been a staple in the community, with residents coming out in their numbers each year to lend a hand.
This year the volunteering activities revolve around early childhood literacy, with the plan being to assemble 2,000 “baby bundles.” Each bundle is designed to promote early literacy and contains a baby book, a tactile toy, and essential resources for new parents. The distribution of the bundles is planned to take place in hospitals with maternity wards and several birthing centers in the area, before the new mothers and their newborns leave for home.
Additional volunteers are required to prepare for and clean up after the activity. This includes setting up and tearing down the assembly line at SOS Ministries in Bryan. Volunteers will also be needed to transport the baby bundles to the UWBV’s storage facility once they are assembled.
To solidify your commitment to this meaningful venture, potential volunteers are directed to UWBV’s online registration site where they can sign up. The initiative not only makes a positive impact on the community, but it also fosters a sense of togetherness and builds on the community’s spirit of giving.
The Day of Action event by the UWBV stands as a symbol of community solidarity. By uniting residents of the Brazos Valley in service, the event epitomizes the principle that we are stronger together. Through community volunteering efforts, the event contributes significantly to the welfare of new mothers and their newborns while simultaneously advocating for early literacy.
The United Way of the Brazos Valley, through its various community initiatives, seeks to strengthen the Brazos Valley community. From education and health to income stability, the organization works across a broad spectrum to ensure that the residents of the Brazos Valley have an improved quality of life. This Day of Action event continues to build on their legacy of service as they work tirelessly to create lasting change in the Brazos Valley region.
