The Theatre Company Plans a Renaissance with “Something Rotten”

Unveiling an Outrageous Musical Comedy

In the heart of the city on August 26th, a charming musical announcement was made that stirred the arts community. The Theatre Company (TTC), known for their dedication to high-quality family-friendly productions, announced their upcoming play, “Something Rotten” – an outrageous, crowd-pleasing musical farce set to reshape the theatre horizon. Created by Grammy Award-winning songwriter Wayne Kirkpatrick, and screenwriters, Karey Kirkpatrick, and John O’Farrell, the hilarious play promises an exciting journey back to the Renaissance.

The plot revolves around brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom, stuck in the epoch dominated by “the Bard”, desperately aiming for a breakthrough in play writing. A local soothsayer prophecies the future of theatre, involving a tantalizing mix of singing, dancing, and acting all concurrently – a visionary revelation that steers the Bottom brothers to pen down the world’s first-ever musical.

Delightful Pastiche of Broadway Traditions

Such a vivid, comedic storyline makes “Something Rotten” a pastiche of Broadway traditions, brimming with big song and dance numbers. Along with its quirky character ensemble, it truly embodies the modern-day adage that “nothing’s as amazing as a musical”.
