Big Win for Texas A&M as They Upset Missouri in a Thrilling Showdown

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Football fans were treated to an exciting game Saturday afternoon as the Texas A&M Aggies crushed the ninth-ranked Missouri Tigers with a final score of 41-10. This impressive victory not only handed Missouri their first loss of the season but also showcased the outstanding performance of Aggies running back, Le’Veon Moss, who rushed for a career-high 138 yards and scored three touchdowns.

A Game to Remember

When asked if he thought his team had shocked Missouri, Moss couldn’t help but laugh. “Most definitely,” he said, grinning ear to ear. “They thought they was coming to get a piece of cake — easy.” And wow, was he right! This dominating win marks the fifth consecutive victory for Texas A&M, who now boast a 5-1 record and are undefeated in the SEC with a 3-0 record under first-year coach Mike Elko, who’s been working hard to build the team’s confidence following a tough season opener against Notre Dame.

Setting the Tone

The Aggies wasted no time in asserting their dominance. With a roaring crowd of 97,049 cheering them on, they jumped to a stunning 24-0 lead by halftime. Moss kicked off the third quarter with a jaw-dropping 75-yard touchdown run just seconds in, leaving the Tigers in disbelief. “We just wanted to come out and continue to put our foot on their neck,” he explained, reflecting the Aggies’ relentless desire to maintain their lead.

Missouri Struggles to Keep Up

Brady Cook, managed to throw for 186 yards and complete one touchdown. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to bring the Tigers back into the game. Coach Eliah Drinkwitz expressed his disappointment, stating, “We weren’t competitive and that’s not Mizzou football.” Missouri, which was playing its first road game of the season, found themselves uncharacteristically flat and unable to respond to Texas A&M’s barrage of offense.

The Aggies opened the scoring with Amari Daniels securing a 1-yard touchdown run after an impressive 88-yard drive. Even potential highlights for the Tigers like a 75-yard reception touchdown attempt were dashed when a penalty flagged them for an illegal receiver downfield. As the game progressed, it became clear there was no catching up for Missouri.

Potent Offense on Display

With the Aggies finding their rhythm offensively, they took every opportunity to score. Daniels added another touchdown, along with Moss securing his hat trick with an 18-yard run early in the fourth quarter, sending the Aggie fans into a frenzy. “Over-rated, over-rated!” they cheered, a chant echoing through Kyle Field.

Moving Forward

Drinkwitz took the loss in stride, reminding his team of two choices: “You can fall apart or you can dig deep and find a resolve to get better.” As the Tigers prepare for their upcoming game against UMass, they’ll need to find that resolve to bounce back and shake off this disappointing result.

On the other hand, the Aggies, with their newfound momentum and an impressive return from quarterback Conner Weigman, who threw for 276 yards, will face Mississippi State next week, looking to continue their winning streak.

The Road Ahead

The game showcased a re-energized Texas A&M team able to compete with the best, while Missouri will be left to ponder what went wrong on the field. Whatever the outcome, one thing is clear: college football is always full of surprises and it’s only getting started!
