The fifth-ranked Texas A&M softball team showcased its dominance with a resounding 12-0 victory over Loyola Marymount University, completing a weekend sweep. With a powerful offensive performance, highlighted by multiple home runs and strong pitching from Emiley Kennedy, the Aggies improved their record to 31-5. This impressive series victory illustrates Texas A&M’s potential as they move forward in the season, leaving fans eager for their next matchup against Prairie View A&M.
College Station, Texas – The fifth-ranked Texas A&M softball team put on a dazzling display over the weekend, finishing off their series against Loyola Marymount University (LMU) with an impressive 12-0 victory at Davis Diamond. With this win, the Aggies improved their overall record to 31-5, showcasing their dominance on the field.
The excitement began early, as the Aggies scored in the first inning during all three games of this series. Mac Barbara ignited the scoreboard with a clutch RBI single to bring home Amari Harper, who had reached base on a fielder’s choice. The momentum didn’t stop there, as Allie Enright extended the lead to 2-0 with a bases-loaded walk. Gracyn Coleman then added another run after capitalizing on a fielding error by LMU’s third baseman, putting Texas A&M ahead 3-0 by the end of the first inning.
In the second inning, the Aggies’s bats stayed hot. Amari Harper and Mya Perez launched home runs, pushing the score to 5-0 before the inning was over. This strong offensive showing was just a taste of what was to come.
Things only got better for the Aggies in the third inning, as they piled on three more runs to take an 8-0 lead and enter run-rule territory. KK Dement led off with a single, setting the stage for an RBI-double from Coleman. Harper continued her stellar game with a single that brought home yet another run, and Wooley added to the joy with an RBI-walk after the bases were loaded.
As if the Aggies weren’t already in a commanding position, they exploded for four more runs in the fourth inning off five hits, including three extra-base hits. Dement dazzled again, starting the inning with a double, later scoring on Frankie Vrazel’s RBI-single. Harper delivered her third hit of the game with an RBI-double, proving it was her day. To cap it all off, Mya Perez hit her second home run of the day, clearing the bases and sending fans into a frenzy.
On the pitching side, Emiley Kennedy was on fire, throwing a complete game and achieving her third shutout of the season. Kennedy was a force on the mound, striking out eight batters while only allowing two hits and not walking anyone. LMU’s offense could only muster hits in the first and second innings, as they struggled to find any rhythm against Kennedy’s elite performance.
Looking ahead, Texas A&M will wrap up their nine-game homestand with a midweek showdown against Prairie View A&M on Wednesday at 6 p.m.. Fans can catch the excitement as the game will be available for streaming on SEC Network +.
