Everyone was looking for redemption after Sunday’s disappointment, and the players didn’t disappoint. Outperforming their opponent, the Aggies showed off their skills and teamwork. Their ability to *bounce back* from loss to victory proves the resilience and dedication of the entire team.

A Tribute Performance: “Because Of You”

Meanwhile, the performing arts scene in College Station is holding a touching tribute performance titled “Because Of You”, dedicated to the legendary Tony Bennett. As the audience fills the seats, many might find themselves reflecting on the lasting impact of the iconic performer. The show promises an emotional journey through music, presenting an opportunity to celebrate not just Bennett’s incredible career, but also the connections we build through music.

Changes on the Academic Front

38 certificates and 14 minors after conducting an internal review. The decision came after discovering that many programs had a number of students enrolled that fell below the established threshold.

Understanding the Changes

According to A&M spokesperson, Alan Sams, the provost and executive vice president, the review aimed to identify what they termed “low-producing” programs. This internal assessment revealed that certain programs were not meeting requirements set in alignment with state standards, which categorize bachelor’s degrees deemed low-producing if they award fewer than five degrees annually. It appears the review is a regular process and will be conducted every two years.

Currently, Texas A&M offers a total of 320 programs, including 176 certificates and 144 minors. Interestingly enough, although 44 certificates and 26 minors were initially set for deactivation, some were exempt due to specific requirements from accreditation bodies. The university mentioned that some programs had no students enrolled for the past two years, prompting their decision.

What Programs Are Affected?

While details of the specific programs set for deactivation are not public yet, some directors have come forward to confirm their programs will be affected. Notably, the LGBTQ Studies minor is among them, as stated by Theresa Morris, Director of Women’s and Gender Studies. Additionally, the Asian Studies minor, the quantitative economic methods, and business economics certificates are also included in the deactivation list.

Students Can Complete Their Programs

The university reassured students currently enrolled in the affected minors and certificates that they will be allowed to finish their programs even after deactivation, preserving their academic paths. It’s important to know that the university is committed to a review process that ensures quality and relevance in their offerings.

Looking Forward

In the past five years, A&M has seen a significant growth in program offerings, creating three times more programs than those being deactivated. This shows the university’s proactive approach to continuously evaluate and enhance its curriculum. The next meeting with the Faculty Senate will take place on October 14th, when more information about the programs in question will become available.

For the residents of College Station, there’s much to talk about, from celebratory soccer wins to crucial academic developments. Stay tuned as we await further updates!
