Teen Accused of DWI Arrested After Three-Car Crash in College Station

19-Year-Old Taken Into Custody:

A 19-year-old resident of College Station, William Bentley Joutte, has been arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated (DWI) following a three-car pileup that occurred on Harvey Mitchell Parkway. The arrest happened on Saturday, after officers from the College Station Police Department arrived at the scene of the crash.

Teen Struggled during Sobriety Test:

A nearby cell phone video showed Joutte conducting a sobriety test by the roadside near Jones Crossing. In the video, the teen is visibly struggling to maintain his balance while attempting to stand on one leg. The incident took place around 6 p.m.

Accident Details:

According to an eyewitness report, it appeared as if Joutte was looking at his cell phone when his vehicle rear-ended another pickup truck. The impact from the collision pushed the second truck into another vehicle in front of it.

Post-Crash Events:

Post-crash, Joutte admitted to drinking alcohol at a friend’s house before getting behind the wheel, according to his arrest report. He argued, however, that the crash was a result of the pickup truck in front of him suddenly braking — an allegation contradicted by the victims who assert they were stationary at traffic lights when they were hit.

Legal Proceedings:

Facing charges of DWI, Joutte was taken into police custody at the crash site. His bond is currently set at $2,000. The victims of the pileup have since taken to social media platforms to recount their version of events, firmly denying the accused’s brake-check claims.

Impact on the Community:

This incident serves as a reminder to the members of the community of the dire repercussions of intoxicated driving. Local authorities urge everyone to prioritize safety above all and avoid drunk driving under all circumstances.

Local Alerts:

In other news around the area, theft of merchandise from a local business resulted in three arrests. A missing 8-year-old child was found in a lake, following an Amber Alert. Additionally, two anglers made headlines by catching state-record black crappies within hours of each other.
