COLLEGE STATION, Texas – After a ten-year hiatus, La Bodega Baja Taco Bar has returned to College Station. The seafood-forward taco bar, which was a much-loved fixture in the local community, plans to honor its heritage by retaining many of its popular menu items.
Owner Costa Dallis stated, “We honored the old menu. There’s probably 80 to 85 percent of the old menu still intact, we just added some more.”
Beyond the menu, La Bodega also features some aesthetic elements from the original restaurant. Dallis has incorporated the colors and some of the framed pictures to ensure a sense of nostalgia within its atmosphere.
Dallis describes how the new space shapes the restaurant’s ambiance. “Every space is different. This one you can see all the windows and has a ton of daylight. The other one had really low ceilings. There’s an older, funkier building, so it kind of tailor the look of the restaurant to the space that you’re in.”
Looking forward, La Bodega has exciting plans for their clientele. A drive-thru window and brunch options are among the propositions that would be introduced in the coming weeks.
The return of La Bodega Baja Taco Bar is being widely heralded by the local community. The unique combination of seafood-forward tacos, honoring the old menu while introducing the new, the lovely ambiance created by the blend of old and new decors are apparent drawcards. With the addition of a drive-thru and brunch options, La Bodega is ready to reclaim its favorite spot among the locals.
For the residents of College Station who remember the old La Bodega Baja Taco Bar and the newer generations who have only heard tales of its former glory, its return is a momentous occasion. The joy that a familiar taste can bring is immeasurable, especially when it’s accompanied by innovation and progress. A community is not just built of people and places, but also the shared experiences and memories around them.
