In College Station, Texas, an individual has been taken into custody after an alleged incident involving theft from a supermarket and assaulting a store manager. The suspect, a 30-year-old man, has been charged with robbery, evading arrest, assaulting a public servant, and resisting arrest.
The episode occurred at a supermarket in College Station slightly before 7 p.m. this past Saturday. The local police department rushed to the scene after they received a call reporting theft and assault taking place at the busy location. According to the eyewitness reports, the accused man had allegedly stolen several items without payment and had even physically assaulted the store manager before making a run for it.
In a commendable show of community participation, multiple residents reported the man’s whereabouts to the police, aiding in tracking him down. As a result of the swift combined efforts, the officers were able to catch up with the fleeing suspect at a nearby restaurant.
Identified as Christopher Jason Edwards, the 30-year old suspect, after a small altercation, was eventually arrested by the Police. Edwards, a resident of College Station himself, has been booked and is currently being held at the Brazos County Jail.
Edwards has been slapped with multiple charges that include robbery, evading arrest or detention, assault on a public servant, in this case, a police officer, and resisting arrest, due to the struggle he put up while being taken into custody. His bond has been set at $28,000.
