It’s that time of the year again in Bryan-College Station, Texas where an influential community organization, The Junior League of Bryan-College Station, Inc. (The Junior League), is preparing to host this year’s milestone Stuff the Bus school supply drive. Set to take place from July 31 to August 3, the event promises to assist numerous students from PreK to 12th grade with much-needed school supplies.
This 2024 edition marks the 24th year of Stuff the Bus, a signature project from The Junior League, aimed at nurturing the academics of young minds within the community, by equipping them with necessary school stationery for their educational voyage.
The passionate commitment displayed by the local community towards supporting this noble cause has been impressive, with many stepping up each year to play a part in shaping the future of the community through education. The Junior League’s Community Vice President, Annie Richardson, shared her excitement about the upcoming event while expressing her gratitude towards the community’s support.
This year, Stuff the Bus has designated numerous points for accepting donations. The official donation schedule is as follows:
Interested donors should note that the organization has outlined a comprehensive list of needed school supplies which includes #2 pencils, erasers, pens, crayons, colored pencils, washable markers, dry erase markers, highlighters, glue sticks, school boxes, pencil pouches, scissors, composition notebooks, notebook paper, solid-colored pocket folders, spiral notebooks, and backpacks.
Monetary donations are welcome and can be made on the organization’s website. The proceeds will be used to purchase supplies for the 2024 academic year. The Junior League has already bought $70,000 worth of supplies, enabling both Bryan and College Station schools to be adequately prepared with basic school necessities for all students.
Over the years, Stuff the Bus has become a treasured community tradition, made possible by robust collaboration and drive from Junior League members, community partners, and generous donations. Hayley Harrison, President of The Junior League of Bryan-College Station, expressed her pride in continuing a project that has demonstrated the power of community collaboration for the past 24 years.
The school supplies will be distributed directly by Bryan and College Station schools. The Junior League encourages anyone with a student in need to contact their school directly. With preparations in full swing for the upcoming event, the organization is excited to see the positive impact their program will have on the students to create another successful year with the Stuff the Bus initiative.
