Bryan, Texas – In an effort to make healthcare more accessible, reliable, and efficient for patients in Bryan/College Station area, St. Joseph Health has announced an expansion plan along with a reorganization of their services.
The chief executive officer at St. Joseph Health, Kim Shaw, revealed the ambitious plan saying that the expansion includes a new primary care clinic at St. Joseph’s south College Station campus near Lowe’s. This clinic is going to accommodate 12 primary care physicians and is scheduled to open in November 2025.
Kim Shaw also outlined a reconfiguration of services at St. Joseph’s hospitals in Bryan and College Station that will take place over the next 12 months. The main aim of this reconfiguration is to allow both hospitals to focus on the services they excel at and therefore provide optimal care. The Bryan hospital will manage more intensive care services and complex surgeries, expressing the hospital’s stronger surgical abilities. Conversely, the College Station hospital will shift its focus to maternity, elective, and outpatient services primary.
Shaw has openly stated that the financial status of St. Joseph’s has improved significantly over the past 18 months. He expressed confidence in the hospital system’s financial future explaining that despite losing a significant amount of money during an ownership transition and the pandemic, St. Joseph’s financial position improved by about $20.5 million dollars, hinting at promising progress.
In an attempt to tackle competition and ensure quality service, Shaw announced that St. Joseph’s has recruited 24 new providers who will start working in the next year and a half. There will be seven new primary care physicians starting at the clinic in College Station this summer to meet the medical needs of the local community.
St. Joseph’s hospital in Caldwell recently received a significant donation to upgrade the emergency room and address other medical needs in Burleson County. This generous gift will contribute to the hospital’s commitment to dedicated and efficient patient care.
St. Joseph’s learned valuable lessons during the pandemic and is now implementing strategies to improve its services and remain a leading healthcare provider in the region. Capitalizing on the gained knowledge and experience from the crisis, the organization is now more prepared and resilient than ever to face future challenges and continue offering efficient and reliable healthcare services to the Bryan/College Station market.
