COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The upcoming game day at Aggie Park will see a different kind of tailgate as a local organization steps in to provide an alcohol-free environment. This unique celebration emphasizes sober fun, coinciding with International Overdose Awareness Day, to push forward an important societal message.

The initiative was spearheaded by a non-profit organization, identified by its executive director, Duke Rumely, as one aimed at creating safe spaces at events where alcohol is typically prevalent. Born out of an alarming increase in drug overdose fatalities nationwide over the past six years, the organization has embarked on this novel, proactive approach aimed at reducing such instances. They are leveraging the power of collectively enjoyed events to reach out to a wider audience and keep the message of sober fun alive.

Located at tent A-10 in Aggie Park, the sober tailgate promises ample excitement. The organization welcomes everyone, with or without game tickets, to join the tailgate that kicks off at noon and lasts two hours past the game’s commencement, evolving into a watch party. Participants are assured of a variety of non-alcoholic beverages and food.
