COLLEGE STATION, Texas – More changes are coming on the roads of College Station as Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) has announced significant traffic modifications in the city to enhance traffic efficiency and road safety.
FM 2818, under the new changes, will introduce signalized U-turns, stating this Tuesday, thereby replacing the current crossovers at the George Bush, Luther, and Holleman intersections. These modifications are in line with the city’s efforts to improve all-around road safety and traffic flow.
The newly introduced U-turns will be signalized to manage movement of vehicles effectively and securely. This dynamic traffic setup will essentially mean that there’ll be no left turns or through traffic allowed on side streets.
The adjustments will occur between 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m. from Tuesday and will last until Friday. Following that, starting the next week during the same hours, lanes stretching from University Dr. to F&B Rd. will interchange to their ultimate setup for the next phase of street development.
Due to these structural alterations, officials have forewarned motorists to expect potential delays and to circumvent the area, if possible.
The construction phases following these changes are part of a broader strategy towards improving traffic management and road safety in College Station. The signaling system aimed to be introduced promises to make the traffic flow smoother and safer than before.
The first phase, that includes the implement of new signalized U-turns, is expected to cause some inconveniences due to potential delays and switching of lanes. However, it’s assured that these disruptions are temporary and necessary for the overall betterment of traffic conditions.
Further details and updates on the above changes and upcoming modifications will be communicated in due course.
