Bryan Man Faces Charges for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and Vehicle Burglary

A Local Resident Arrested

A local man in Bryan has been detained on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child under the age of 14. The accused, Jeremiah Botley, 28, is also facing allegations for the burglary of a vehicle in an unrelated incident according to Brazos County Jail records.

Details of the Case

The sexual assault allegation dates back to February 28, 2023, following a report that Botley had allegedly assaulted an 11-year-old. Further to the sexual assault, on May 8, local law enforcement responded to a complaint about theft from a vehicle in the 1200 block of Hollow Circle. The victim of the vehicle robbery positively identified Botley as the individual who had broken into her vehicle.

In a statement given to the police, Botley claimed he had not committed the theft. He explained that he was merely returning to his hotel after a meeting with an acquaintance he met through a dating platform.

Pending Legal Consequences

The crime of aggravated sexual assault of a minor is regarded as a first-degree felony in Texas. Offenders may face serious consequences, including a maximum prison sentence of up to 99 years, and a fine reaching up to $10,000. The separate charge for vehicle burglary is classified as a class “A” misdemeanor, attracting up to a year in jail and a financial penalty of $4,000.

Current Detention Status

Botley is held under a $52,000 bond as per the latest details from jail records. Any information possibly revealing the identity of the underage victim has been omitted from the probable cause report by the Brazos County District Attorney’s Office in order to safeguard the child.

Note : The details regarding the identity or condition of the minor victim cannot ethically be publicized. Victims of sexual assault, especially minors, have legal rights to their privacy and identity protection.

A community on Alert

The arrest of Botley has put the local Bryan community on alert. The charges served underscore the importance of community vigilance and the role that each individual plays in safeguarding the safety and wellbeing of the most vulnerable members of our society, especially children.

The local public is also urged to report any suspicious activities or information that may assist the law enforcement authorities in their ongoing investigation.

Legal proceedings to Follow

As the case progresses, Jeremiah Botley will be entitled to full legal representation and due process. He will face his charges in court, where his guilt or innocence will be determined according to the judicial process.

The process ensures that the principles of justice and the rights of the accused person are upheld.
