Guilty Plea and Twenty-Year Sentence

A Rockdale man pleaded guilty last week in Brazos County to sexual assault of two College Station teenagers. The defendant, Jamarr Zamora, 22, was sentenced to the maximum term of 20 years in prison on two counts of sexual assault of a child.

Report of a Missing Teenager

The initial case developed on November 27, 2022, when the Robertson County Sheriff’s Department was contacted by the mother of one of Zamora’s victims. She reported that her 15-year-old daughter was missing. The teenager returned home the following day and alleged Zamora had engaged in sexual acts with her. Investigators determined that Zamora had transported the victim to a hotel in College Station, where he committed the offense.

Discovery of a Second Victim

During the course of their investigations, law enforcement personnel discovered a second victim, who was 14 years old. It was found that she, too, fell prey to Zamora’s actions.

Zamora’s Confession

In interviews with the College Station Police Department detectives, Zamora confessed that he had picked the victims up from their homes on multiple occasions and brought them to hotels in College Station where he conducted sexual acts.

Prosecutor’s Determination

Brazos County Assistant District Attorney Jessica Escue addressed Zamora’s actions, stating “This defendant manipulated and sexually abused vulnerable teenagers. Our office will strongly respond to anyone who seeks to harm a child in this community.” The prosecution’s firm handling of the case has sent a clear message to the citizens of the community.

Committed to Child Safety

The local governing bodies have repeatedly reassured the public they are committed to the safety and well-being of all children in the area, and this case bears testament to their commitment. The lengthy sentence imposed on Zamora will undoubtedly serve as a stern warning to others about the serious consequences of such heinous offenses.
