In the vibrant city of Bryan, excitement is brewing as StageCenter gears up for an extraordinary week of theater. Remember back in 2020 when the world was in the grips of a pandemic, and the very essence of live performance was called into question? Well, StageCenter stepped up to the challenge with a **COVID-safe rendition** of the classic suspense-filled story, “The 39 Steps.” Fast forward nearly four years, and they’re back to deliver a fresh take on this thrilling tale with “The 39 Steps: A Live Radio Play”!
This time around, expect something a little different. Alongside “The 39 Steps,” the evening will also feature “Content Filler”—an eclectic assortment of entertaining pieces including poems, monologues, scripts, and songs, all performed by talented local actors. It’s a delightful mix to tickle your fancy and spark your imagination!
Taking the helm and making her directorial debut is Kassandra Maduzia, who will guide the audience through this unique revival. Kassandra previously portrayed the role of “woman” in the original version of the play, and now she’s ready to bring her creative vision to life. Joining her are familiar faces from the local theater scene like Mark Bendiksen, Tim Scott, Charlsie Harris, and Chris Rogers. Each member of the cast shares a passion for live performance, promising an exciting experience for the audience!
You’d be thrilled to know that the performance will include immersive sound effects brought to life by a live Foley artist. Yes, that means you’ll hear all the thrilling sounds that will enhance the suspense and humor of the show. Imagine the old-timey radio thrills being amplified right before your eyes! It’s a unique experience that seamlessly melds the magic of live theater with a nostalgic radio vibe.
Now here’s the fun twist—every night of the performance will feature different readings in “Content Filler.” So you’d better believe that no two evenings will be the same. Whether you’re returning for a second night or making your first appearance, you’re in for a surprise!
The shows are set for a cozy 7:30 p.m. start on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are available online and at the door—making it super convenient for everyone! Prices are quite reasonable too, with general admission at just $18 and a discounted price of $15 for seniors or students. Truly, an affordable way to enjoy a night out!
StageCenter is nestled right in the heart of downtown at 218 N. Bryan Ave.. You’ll want to grab your friends and family and head over for a night filled with laughter, suspense, and extraordinary talent. It’s a wonderful opportunity to support local theater and enjoy a unique artistic experience right in your community.
Mark your calendars for this remarkable event, and don’t forget that these performances are for ONE WEEK ONLY! It’s a thrilling blast from the past that you won’t want to miss, so come out and support the artistic spirit of Bryan. See you at the show!
