HUTCHINSON, Kan. — If you’ve got a knack for innovation and a heart full of dreams, mark your calendars for this coming Monday! The local event Pitch Contest is just around the corner, and it’s shaping up to be an incredible showcase of talent right here in our community.
On September 16th, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., entrepreneurs will take the stage at the Blue Dragon Room in the Parker Student Union at Hutchinson Community College. This contest draws together the brightest minds from the Entrepreneurship Business Basics JUMP© (EBB Jump) program, which has been churning out some pretty fantastic business ideas over its 12-week course.
Just to give you an idea of what’s happening, the participants have been gearing up to pitch their business ideas to a panel of judges, all while hoping to snag a piece of the $2,000 prize money up for grabs. Yes, you read that right—$2,000! This isn’t just about cash; it’s about getting your idea in front of the right people and possibly taking that next step toward launching a successful venture.
“We’re thrilled to see the creativity and ambition that local entrepreneurs will bring to the Pitch Contest,” said Jackson Swearer, one of the driving forces behind StartUp Hutch. He’s all about building a supportive environment where aspiring entrepreneurs can showcase their innovative thinking. It’s not just about winning but about making connections and getting inspired by one another. This contest is the perfect opportunity to witness the next wave of business innovation in Reno County!
And guess what? Everyone is invited! That’s right—community members, local business leaders, and anyone interested in entrepreneurship is encouraged to attend. Not only will you be cheering on some brave contestants, but you might also walk away inspired by their passion and creativity. Building a community means being part of the exciting journey that these entrepreneurs are on.
The Pitch Contest is actually the grand finale of the EBB Jump program, which has been a game-changer for aspiring business owners looking to get their ideas off the ground. Facilitated by Kira Cheree’ Cobb, participants have gained essential skills, insights, and a ton of valuable resources throughout the course. The ultimate goal? To bolster our local entrepreneurial spirit and provide a platform where big ideas can flourish.
With each presentation, we can expect to see ideas that not only spark imagination but also cater to various needs in our daily lives. Who knows? You might even meet the future owner of Hutchinson’s next hotspot or the solution to a pesky local problem!
So, whether you’re an entrepreneur, a supporter of local businesses, or just someone who enjoys a good show, make sure to come out and soak in the energy. Let’s celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship in Reno County together!
