New Roadway Proposal Open House in Bryan-College Station Area

Hey folks! If you’re living in or around Bryan and College Station, there’s an important event coming up that you won’t want to miss. On Thursday, November 7th, from 5 to 7 p.m., the Brazos Center will be the place to be for anyone interested in discussing a proposed new roadway aimed at improving traffic flow in our beloved area.

What’s Happening?

The open house is part of the Inner Loop East Study, a comprehensive project being conducted by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Brazos County, and the cities of Bryan and College Station. The main goal here? To explore the possibility of establishing a new north-south road that would run east of our cities, creating a much-needed loop that could ease traffic congestion.

Proposed Routes and Details

While there isn’t a definitive plan as of yet, one potential alignment is being considered. This proposed road could connect from the William D. Fitch Parkway and Texas 30 area all the way up to where FM 2818 meets Texas 6, north of Bryan. The fact that no final alignment has been decided yet means that community input is crucial. So, if you’ve got ideas or opinions, this is your chance to make your voice heard!

Your Chance to Speak Up!

The open house promises to be an informative evening where you can learn about the status of the project, the entire development process, and what the next steps will look like. Community members will be encouraged to leave comments during the event, making it a fantastic opportunity to share your thoughts on how this new roadway could affect your daily commute or overall experience in our area.

If you can’t make it to the event, don’t worry! There are several other ways to send in your comments. You can shoot an email to brazosinnerloopeast@quiddity.com, or give the county a call or text at 979-383-2036. There’s also the option of mailing your comments to: Inner Loop East Study C/O CD&P, P.O. Box 5459, Austin, TX 78763. Just a heads up: make sure your comments are postmarked by Friday, November 22, if you want them included in the official meeting record.

Where to Go?

The Brazos Center is located at 3232 Briarcrest Drive in Bryan. It’s a convenient spot to gather and discuss an initiative that could impact our community for years to come.

Looking Ahead

As a little background, the FM 2818 TxDOT project is expected to wrap up by fall 2024. This ongoing development represents just one piece of the puzzle when it comes to improving our transportation infrastructure.
