New Leadership in Emergency Management for Brazos County
BRYAN, Texas — Exciting changes are happening in our very own Brazos County as the community welcomes Interim Emergency Management Coordinator Jason Ware into his new role. With nearly 25 years of experience in public safety, Jason is stepping up during a time when effective leadership is crucial.
A Lifelong Commitment to Public Safety
Jason brings a wealth of experience and a strong passion for public safety. “I’ve been in public safety now for almost 24 years, 25 years if you will, and I’ve been very passionate about public safety,” he shared. His deep-rooted commitment shines through in everything he does, especially regarding emergency preparedness.
One of Jason’s key focuses is planning. He believes that without a solid plan, chaos can easily take over during emergencies. “The whole planning that goes into everything interests me because if you don’t have a plan in place, then you ensure chaos when it happens,” Jason explained. His aim is to keep issues manageable, ensuring the community can navigate emergencies smoothly.
The Importance of Continuity
Having an interim coordinator is essential for maintaining stability in emergency management. Just one month after the previous emergency management coordinator stepped into the role, Jason was ready to take the reins. “We all have to work together to make things better, bigger, and better for the county,” he stated, emphasizing the collaborative spirit he hopes to foster.
Safety First: Managing Emergencies
The responsibilities of the emergency management coordinator are extensive. They involve planning and managing responses to a variety of situations, ranging from severe weather events to potential terrorist incidents. “Everything from severe weather events to, you know, heaven forbid terrorist incident type of stuff,” Jason specified. His work with first responders will ensure the community remains safe.
“When you have an emergency management coordinator in place, it allows all that collaboration, all that planning to move forward and to work well in times of need,” he added. Collaboration with local agencies and first responders is key to a successful response in times of crisis.
Bringing the Community Together
One of the primary reasons Jason took on this interim role is to unite the community. He feels a strong sense of duty to improve safety for all residents. “People kind of pick on us about saying, well, I do it for my community, well, that’s exactly what we do, that’s exactly why we do it,” Jason explained. His dedication to serving the community is evident in every word.
“We serve our community, and above all, that is the safety of our community, and the safety of our state is very important to us,” he continued. This heartfelt sentiment highlights the importance of local leadership in ensuring everyone’s security.
Looking Ahead
As Brazos County continues its search for a permanent emergency management coordinator, residents can feel reassured that Jason Ware is dedicated to making our community a safer place. His extensive experience and heartfelt mission are sure to have a positive impact on the county.
