A Navasota man was arrested early this morning in College Station, following an altercation at a local restaurant. Identified as 22-year-old Emilio Murillo-Tovar, Jr., the suspect is now facing multiple charges after refusing to cooperate with police officers and uncovering a federal warrant pertaining to human smuggling.
At around 12:25 a.m. on August 23, 2024, an officer from the College Station Police Department (CSPD) intervened in a heated dispute at Famiglia Pizzeria, located in the 100 Block of College Main Street. The restaurant’s manager informed authorities of a disorderly conduct fight involving three individuals inside the establishment.
Murillo-Tovar Jr., later identified via his name and birth date, was among the trio who allegedly engaged in physical violence against another group. Despite repeated requests from the responding officers, Murillo-Tovar Jr. refused to provide his identification or any clarification about the incident.
The manager reported that upon asking the trio, including the defendant, to leave the premises, they became verbally aggressive. The officers on scene were able to quell the escalating tensions and prevent further physical dispute.
Close to 2:35 a.m., CSPD arrested Murillo-Tovar Jr. for disorderly conduct by fighting. An additional search, conducted in accordance with arrest protocols, revealed possession of both a THC Vape and a bag of cocaine.
Even at the local jail, the suspect continued to withhold information, only furnishing his details about an hour after his arrest. When this information was processed, the police discovered an outstanding federal warrant for smuggling of persons against Murillo-Tovar Jr.
Consequently, Murillo-Tovar Jr. faces an array of charges, including failure to identify himself as a fugitive from justice, disorderly conduct by fighting, possession of a controlled substance from Penalty Group 1 and 2, and the federal warrant for human smuggling. He was subsequently booked into the Brazos County jail and is awaiting further legal proceedings.
