Early Morning Disturbance

In the early hours of Sunday morning, officers responded to an aggravated assault call at 1:39 AM at the Dominik Apartments in College Station, Texas. They discovered a man suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was swiftly transported to the hospital where he is being treated for several puncture and laceration wounds.

The Arrest

Following the incident, 31-year-old Joel Antonio Fuentes-Maldanado was placed under arrest. Fuentes-Maldanado is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is also on a U.S. Immigration Hold. Investigations led police to his unit at the same apartment complex, where he confessed to attempting to hide a bloody shirt.

Gruesome Attack

Details of the horrific event have emerged. Upon arriving home, the victim encountered Fuentes-Maldanado. Although the two men had known each other for over a year, there had been a persistent dispute between them. That night, it escalated into a verbal altercation, leading Fuentes-Maldanado to attack the victim with a box cutter-style pocket knife. In the ensuing physical struggle, both men tumbled down the stairs and the attacker fled the scene.

Immediate Aftermath and Investigation

Police arrived to find a substantial amount of blood on the stairwell railings and signs of a scuffle in the surrounding grassy area. At present, Fuentes-Maldanado is being held at a local jail with a bond set at $30,000, pending additional investigation and the immigration hold.
