Is Troy Luce Now in New Mexico?
A missing person alert was raised for the 73-year-old Troy Luce by New Mexico State Police on Tuesday following a post on social media that suggested Luce, who disappeared on Saturday, could be in New Mexico. The last sighting of his vehicle was on Monday in Midland.
Luce’s life is reportedly in danger due to early symptoms of dementia, according to his family and deputies. The elderly Luce was last reported leaving his Brazos County home on Saturday evening, driving off on OSR Highway in a blue 2017 Nissan Frontier with a TX plates MDS8909. At a gas station in Cross Plains, Texas, his credit card was tracked the following day on Sunday.
Dismay as Search Extends
More than 24 hours have passed since this credit card activity and there has been no further sighting or contact with Luce. His family have expressed their frustration and heartache, especially since they were in close proximity but couldn’t reach him in time.
Luce not only suffers from beginning stages of dementia, but also a heart ailment requiring medication which he is running low on. His family have also noted his dyslexia which makes him struggle with understanding road signs and directions, further exacerbating their anxiety.

His family advices that if you come across Luce, some methods that may get his attention include addressing him by his name or ‘Papa’, and he might also react favorably to the suggestion of going fishing.
Luce is described as a man with brown hair and brown eyes, measuring 5′8 ″ tall, weighing around 230 lbs. He has a noticeable limp in his right leg’s walk, and was last seen wearing a black t-shirt with a flag design and dark jogging pants.
