The achievements of our volleyball stars have made their mark, earning them well-deserved recognition in various district and state honors. Standout Performances in District Honors
The competition was tough, but several players shone like bright stars this season. Bryan’s own Allison Warden, a setter and outside hitter, earned a spot as a first team all-district selection. Her skill and leadership on the court were vital for her team throughout the season.
In Iola, Sydney Nevill clinched the title of District 24-2A offensive MVP this season, showcasing her incredible scoring ability. Meanwhile, Gabby Baker from Rudder took home the defensive MVP title in District 17-5A, solidifying her impact as a steadfast libero.
Waco Midway’s Kenna McKenzie made waves as the District 12-6A MVP, leading her team with remarkable skill. Her fellow team members also earned recognition; Sadie McKee was named Hitter of the Year, and Annalysia Rios received the Setter of the Year title.
Defensive skills were highlighted with Jade Washington being named the Defensive MVP and Chloe Tuiasosopo sealing the title of Blocker of the Year, both from Midway and Copperas Cove respectively. Newcomers also made their mark, with McLaine Harris and Kaitlyn Urquidez both celebrated as Co-Newcomers of the Year in District 12-6A.
Recognition Across Multiple Districts
In District 17-5A, junior Blair Thiebaud earned the prestigious MVP title, with Peyton McKee recognized as the Offensive MVP. Other notable players in this district included Jillian Vinal, named Setter of the Year, and Emma Wilson for Blocker of the Year.
Turning to District 22-4A, Sydney McKay took home the MVP title, while her teammate Rebecca Lucksinger was awarded Offensive MVP. The incredible teamwork of Bellville players truly paid off this season!
All-State Recognition
As the season came to an end, the excitement ramped up with state-level recognitions. Gabby Baker didn’t stop at her district glory; she also made the third-team pick on the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 5A all-state volleyball team. Her remarkable stats—779 digs, 234 assists, 65 aces, and 30 kills—speak volumes about her prowess on the court.
Sister athlete Blair Thiebaud also earned honors, grabbing an honorable mention on the all-state team with impressive performances that included 897 assists, 457 digs, 405 kills, and 223 service points.
Crowning Achievements at State Tournament
It was a thrilling time for fans as schools battled in the state tournament. Corpus Christi Flour Bluff middle blocker Margaret Croft stole the spotlight by being named the 5A player of the year after contributing significantly to her team’s first-ever state tournament title. Flour Bluff defeated College Station in the state semifinals and secured the championship in remarkable fashion.
This year’s annual All-BV Volleyball Team showcased the depth and talent of our local teams, reflecting deep playoff runs and stellar performances. Hats off to all the players and coaches who made this season one to remember!
