More Arrests by Local Police on Drug Charges

Introduction

In a continuous efforts to maintain law and order, the local enforcement agencies executed several arrests on drug charges. These arrests signify the persistent attempts by the police to combat drug-related offenses and keep the community safe.

Guilty Plea Leads to Further Charges

Vincent Hawkins Jr., a 36-year-old local resident of Bryan, encountered repeated encounters with law enforcement related to drug issues. The same day Hawkins pleaded guilty to a drug charge in the Brazos County district court, he found himself back in the custody of Bryan police for selling drugs out of his residence. The dwelling is located near the Bryan regional athletic complex, a designated drug-free zone, thus enhancing the gravity of the offenses.

Upon his arrest on April 9, officers seized several illegal substances, including over three pounds of marijuana, T-H-C, unlawful mushrooms, amphetamine, hydrocodone, cocaine, and alprazolam. More than $500 in cash was also confiscated. Despite his extensive criminal charges, Hawkins managed to post a $165,000 bail and was released.

Seizure of Cocaine Powder and Crack Cocaine

In another drug-related incident, a traffic stop at 2:30 a.m. by a Bryan police officer resulted in the arrest of 35-year-old Nathan Ayers. The encounter marked Ayers’ 20th booking in the Brazos County jail within the past 17 years.

Upon stopping his vehicle due to non-verification of insurance, police found a pouch in plain sight containing a substance later identified as cocaine powder. Struggles ensued as officers endeavored to place Ayers into a patrol vehicle, leading to the discovery of several chunks of a material identified as a combination of fentanyl and crack cocaine coming out of his shoe. Ayers has since been released after posting bonds totaling $23,000.

Drug Overdose Investigation Leads to Arrest

Another related episode unfolded in College Station after a drug overdose in January 2024 led police to investigate a Brenham man. 20-year-old Adam Carreiro Jr. was apprehended for selling Oxycodone back in October 2023. Based on a review of 800 pages of communication between Carreiro and the deceased, detectives were able to extract evidence of the drug transaction.

Carreiro faced felony charges for selling two Percocet pills for $30. After being booked into Brazos County jail on April 22nd, Carreiro managed to post a $5,000 bond and was released the following day.
