Two Arrested Following Large Pool Party in College Station

Date: April 6, 2024 – College Station police confirmed that they arrested two men from Houston after they trespassed to attend a large pool party at The Cottages of College Station Student Apartments.

Details of the Arrests

Two male residents from Houston, identified as 21-year-old Jasachin Dewayne Harris and 20-year-old Eyoel Mesfin Abrha, were charged with Criminal Trespass. The police were alerted to the situation on Saturday at 5:39 p.m. by private security. The security personnel reported a massive pool party with a DJ, several non-residents, illicit parking, explicit music, and cases of alcohol and drug consumption.

The police officers on arrival were met with an unruly crowd, which, due to their forceful numbers, brazenly claimed that ‘they couldn’t be made to leave.’ In response, the Police called for additional support, including backups from the Tourism & Entertainment Policing Unit.

The Police Action

The Police proceeded to apprehend the first perpetrator, who was also charged with Evading Arrest aside from Trespass. A citation was also issued against the DJ. The crowd reacted negatively to these police actions, causing a surge in the officer’s response.

More police units were required to control the escalating situation. After enough officers had been deployed and the crowd continued to disregard orders to evacuate, the gathering was declared an unlawful assembly, and formal orders to disperse were given.

Eventually, another arrest was made for Criminal Trespass. Despite the initial resistance, this action got the remaining crowd to vacate the premises finally.

Endnotes

In conclusion, the seemingly festive pool party took a bitter turn when it was deemed illegal due to the involved trespassing and other violations. The situation escalated when the crowd resisted evacuation, piling additional charges onto the arrested individuals.

As the situation stands, the two arrested parties: Jasachin Dewayne Harris and Eyoel Mesfin Abrha remain in custody. Further investigations and legal proceedings are expected to finalize the extent of the consequences of this event.
