Bryan, Texas – Fan-favorite food truck JLM’s Chicken & Waffle, renowned for their lip-smacking dishes, opened its brick and mortar location on Tuesday, to an enthusiastic reception from their loyal customer base. The momentous grand opening saw patrons line up, eager to sample the expanded menu offerings as the beloved food truck transitioned into a standalone restaurant. Owner Juanita Christian expressed her gratitude to the community, saying, “every year JLM’s gets larger and larger, and the community has supported me over the years. We have now moved from the food truck to the building.”
Juanita Christian, who spent around 30 years working at Church’s Chicken, always aspired to run her own restaurant. This grand opening is the culmination of her ambition and a testament to her culinary prowess. Overwhelmed by the journey, she said, “I’m just taking in the moment as it goes each day… I can do it, I can make it, and God is with me all the way.”
The brick and mortar transition has also seen the launch of an expanded menu. While their famous chicken and waffles continue to be a mainstay, additional dishes such as chicken fried chicken, shrimp and grits have been added to the fare. To keep the menu interesting, every Sunday will feature a unique soul food dish.
The opening of a permanent location won’t mark the end of JLM’s food truck services though. Fans of the food truck can still get their fill by booking it for their events by reaching out via email or phone call.
Juanita’s labor of love, JLM’s Chicken & Waffle, can now be found at 4001 E. 29th Street in Bryan, Texas. Eager customers can visit the restaurant from Monday to Saturday between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m., as well as on Sundays between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
A veteran in the food industry with 30 years under her belt, Juanita Christian’s dream to start her own food business finally bore fruition with JLM’s Chicken & Waffle food truck. Her dedication to her craft and high-quality dishes soon brought her loyal followers and her business grew. With the opening of her brick and mortar restaurant, she aims to further expand her fanbase and offer more varied dishes to her customers.
