College Station, Texas – A mother of two is trying to piece her life back together after a terrifying hit-and-run incident left her without a vehicle. The accident occurred on Saturday evening, October 12, around 8:30 p.m. at the busy intersection of Harvey Road and George Bush Drive East. Witnesses say the driver of a red Toyota pickup ran a red light and smashed into the victim’s car before speeding away, leaving a trail of chaos in their wake.
Jynesis Garcia, the mother involved in the wreck, recounted the fear that washed over her during the crash. “Thank God I could walk and talk, and even though I was in shock, I understood what just happened,” she said, her voice still trembling with emotion. She described the moment as one where her life “flashed before her eyes,” ultimately marking it as the most frightening night of her life.
“It was everything from being like, ‘I’m grateful to be alive,’ to ‘thank you, Jesus,’ that my kids weren’t in the car,” Garcia added. Luckily, her children were not with her that night, but the incident has left a huge void in her life as she grapples with the aftermath of the collision.
Unfortunately for Garcia, her insurance policy does not cover the damages because her car had not been fully paid off. This leaves her and her husband facing substantial out-of-pocket expenses, which could amount to thousands of dollars. “It’s just hard to not have any answers right now,” she lamented, feeling the weight of the situation pressing down on her.
As if the situation wasn’t tough enough, a key piece of evidence was left behind at the scene: a red bumper from the vehicle that hit her car. This could potentially lead to tracking down the driver, who might still be cruising around town without a bumper. If only they could find that driver!
Garcia has reached out to the College Station police for assistance, but she is left waiting for updates. “The police did mention that the officers on the case and their superior wouldn’t be able to help me until Thursday because that’s when they work next,” she explained. As the days pass, Garcia is growing increasingly anxious to get some clarity on her situation.
However, she isn’t sitting idly by. Garcia and her friend Emily have taken the proactive route, starting to call local businesses in search of any clues or leads about the hit-and-run driver. “If no one can help us, then we are going to help ourselves,” Garcia said, showing an admirable spirit in the face of adversity.
In a move that highlights the strength of community support, a friend of Garcia has launched a GoFundMe campaign with a goal of raising $5,000. The funds will go toward helping Garcia find reliable transportation in the wake of losing her car. “Every little bit counts, and I am so grateful for the support,” she expressed, feeling the love from those around her.
The investigation into this ongoing case continues, as police work to identify the suspect. For Garcia and others affected by similar incidents, the hope is to see justice served and to find peace of mind once again.
If you happen to have any information about a red Toyota pickup that fits the description or have seen any unusual bumperless vehicles in College Station, please consider reaching out to the authorities. Your small piece of information could mean the world to someone trying to put their life back together.
