In the heart of Texas, local high school athletes are making waves and showcasing their incredible talents! Over the weekend, several students lit up the scene at the Prairie View Relays and in various sports, solidifying their spots as rising stars in the world of athletics.
First up is Kimora Maxey from Rudder High School, who has set a new school record in the grueling 300-meter hurdles. Maxey charged across the finish line with a stunning time of 46.31 seconds, clinching first place and drawing cheers from the crowd. But that’s not all—she also captured third place in the 100-meter hurdles, sailing home with her second medal of the event!
Meanwhile, Ashley McDonald, a promising freshman at A&M Consolidated High School, led her softball team to a decisive 16-6 victory over Montgomery. McDonald’s complete game was nothing short of impressive, needing only 61 pitches to wrap it up, demonstrating her skills on the mound and her cool under pressure.
Not to be outdone, Mason Story, a senior at College Station High School, delivered a stellar performance in a 3-1 nondistrict baseball win against Lake Belton. Coming in as a relief pitcher, Story threw for six innings, allowing just two hits and striking out four batters—a true display of baseball prowess!
On the softball field, Paige Fritsch from Burton High School truly shined, going an impressive 3 for 5 with a double, a triple, two walks, and four RBIs. She also scored a run, showcasing all-around capability as part of her team’s efforts. Additionally, Jade Buchanan of Anderson-Shiro High School had quite the week as well, batting 7 for 7 over two games with two home runs, two doubles, and an amazing eight RBIs while scoring seven times herself. To top it all off, she also pitched an inning, striking out two batters!
Over on the baseball diamond, Braxton Zeig from Mumford High School had a day to remember during a staggering 23-0 district victory over Snook. He went 3 for 3 with a double, a single, and a grand slam, racking up a jaw-dropping total of nine RBIs while touching home plate himself twice. It was truly an unforgettable performance that will be talked about for a long time to come!
