Bryan, Texas, is currently grappling with some serious legal matters as a Brazos County grand jury has handed down indictments against four men charged with sex-related crimes against minors. The charges range from indecency to sexual assault, causing quite a stir in the community as residents react to the alarming nature of these accusations.
The first case involves Roberto Carlos Martinez-Almendarez, a 20-year-old from College Station. He is facing an indictment for Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact, categorized as a second-degree felony. According to jail records, the alleged incident took place around September 1, 2022. Martinez-Almendarez was arrested in August of the same year. His bond has been set at $75,000, but it’s important to note that he also has a U.S. Immigration Hold in place from ICE, making his situation even more complicated.
Next up is Sergio Adrian Garza, a 28-year-old Bryan resident. He has been indicted on three counts of Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact, also classified as a second-degree felony. Documents reveal that these alleged acts occurred during June and July of 2023. Garza was arrested in December of last year, and while his bonds totaled $75,000, he was released from jail just a day after his arrest.
The third case revolves around Stelton Wendrick Govan II, who is 24 and also hails from College Station. Govan faces more severe charges with an indictment for Sexual Abuse of a Child Continuous with a Victim Under 14. This is classified as a first-degree felony and is taken exceptionally seriously. The alleged offense dates back to March 2018, and Govan remains in jail with a hefty bond set at $500,000.
Lastly, we have Tishawon Tiriayon Moore, a 19-year-old from College Station who is indicted on charges of Sexual Assault of a Child, a second-degree felony. This incident allegedly occurred in October 2023. Moore was arrested in February 2024, though he was released just two days later on a $25,000 bond.
The news of these indictments has left many in the Bryan and College Station communities concerned about the safety of their children. The allegations involve serious offenses that can deeply affect victims and their families. Community members are discussing the need for increased awareness and preventive measures to protect minors from such crimes.
Authorities have shared limited information about these cases, choosing to prioritize the protection of those involved, especially the victims. As these cases progress through the legal system, residents are reminded of the importance of vigilance and open discussions about child safety in schools, homes, and community organizations.
The legal proceedings ahead for these individuals will no doubt be closely monitored by the community. As updates emerge, it’s essential for everyone to stay informed and support efforts aimed at ensuring that justice is served and that the safety of children remains a top priority.
