Four Arrests From Two Loud Parties At Neighboring Airbnb Rentals In College Station

Disturbing Parties at Airbnb Rentals Leads to Arrests

College Station, TX- On the early morning of May 5, 2024, the city of College Station witnessed a series of events that rattled the quiet community. The unexpected commotion resulted from two houses, turned Airbnb rentals, that hosted loud and disruptive parties in the Wolf Pen Creek neighborhood.

Police reports reveal that one officer observed a crowd numbering between 50 and 60 people leaving an Airbnb property on Estates Circle. The same officer also reported seeing an overwhelming foggy smoke, suspected to be marijuana, as the front door was opened. Furthermore, as law enforcement begun intervening, they noticed people disposing of firearms and illegal narcotics at the scene.

Arrests and Charges

The two main suspects from the first house, 19-year-old Taylan Johnson and 21-year-old Markell Foster, both residents of Bryan, faced multiple charges. Johnson, claiming to be the organizer of the party, was apprehended for disorderly conduct and a misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Concurrently, Foster, who sought to intervene in the lawful activities of law enforcement, was also arrested. His charges include interference with officers, failure to identify himself, and evasion of arrest. Following their arrests, both Johnson and Foster managed to secure their release from jail by posting bonds.

Social Media Reveals Second Problematic Party

Simultaneously, another disturbance was brewing in an Airbnb rental on Holleman East. This party was discovered via active monitoring of social media, where images of numerous attendees pointing firearms at each other were posted. Law enforcement responded quickly to the noise complaint and observed a mass exodus from the short-term rental property.

Additional Arrests

Two 17-year-old individuals, Jakelynn Fletcher of College Station and Cameron Scott of Bryan, were arrested at the second location. Fletcher remains in custody due to a parole violation from the Texas Juvenile Justice Department, on top of new charges of possessing a dangerous drug and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Scott, however, was released after posting bonds, despite facing charges of underage possession of a firearm and possession of a weapon with an obliterated serial number.

Community repercussions

This series of events certainly raises questions about the safety and general conduct within these short-term rental properties. Airbnb rentals, popular for their affordability and convenience, should remain a space where patrons can feel safe and secure. This recent development has not only disrupted the peace of the community but raised concerns over the regulatory measures enforcing peace and order in shared rental spaces.

In response to these events, it is hoped that relevant authorities and the community can work together to ensure such incidents do not repeat themselves. This is essential, not only for the safety and peace of the neighborhood but for the integrity of the widely-used Airbnb platform.
