Hey there, Bryan! As we dive into this season of giving and joy, it’s important to remember that not everyone is able to enjoy the comforts of a festive table filled with delicious food. In fact, one in every eight households in Texas faces the harsh reality of food insecurity. And if you think it’s just a faraway problem, think again! In our very own Brazos Valley, the situation is a tad worse, as shared by the Executive Director of the Brazos Valley Food Bank, Theresa Mangapora.
During the holiday season—a time meant for family gatherings and celebration—many families are under tremendous stress, attempting to make ends meet while the seasonal cheer looms large around them. The struggle to put food on the table is real, and it’s happening right here in our community!
For 29 consecutive years, KBTX has joined forces with the Brazos Valley Food Bank to bring a little light to those who are facing food hardship through the annual Food for Families Food Drive. This amazing partnership helps rally the community around a common cause—ensuring that all families can share a meal together during this special time of year.
Want to make a difference? It’s easy! The KBTX team will be setting up at seven convenient locations across the Brazos Valley, ready to accept both food and monetary donations. Imagine the joy of knowing that your contribution could make a real impact on someone’s holiday!
Here’s where you can drop off your donations:
Now, you might be wondering, “What should I donate?” Well, the food bank has shared a list of their most needed items, and believe it or not, every little bit helps. Just $1 can buy two meals, so even the smallest donations are incredibly valuable.
If you can’t make it out to one of the drop-off centers today, don’t fret! You can still contribute by donating online. Every penny counts, and every donation helps fill the plates of families in our community. After all, it’s the spirit of giving that truly makes the holidays special.
It’s essential to remember that if you’re struggling, you aren’t alone. Many people in our community are facing similar challenges, and resources are available to help. The Brazos Valley Food Bank is dedicated to providing assistance, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you need support.
This season, let’s come together as a community to fight food insecurity. Whether you can donate food, money, or your time, there are plenty of ways to get involved. So, get ready to spread some cheer and help those in need in our Bryan community!
Let’s make this holiday season a time of hope and giving for everyone. Together, we can ensure that every family experiences the joy of a holiday meal. Happy donating!
