Feedback can be submitted through an online survey until February 28th, helping shape future transportation infrastructure. Key upgrades include expanding the roadway from two to four lanes, adding dedicated left-turn lanes, and constructing roundabouts. A shared-use path for pedestrians and cyclists will also be established. Community involvement is crucial as the city prepares to provide support for the proposal to TxDOT.
Bryan residents and regular commuters, get ready to voice your opinions! The city of Bryan is inviting feedback from those who frequently travel on FM 1179, particularly between Boonville Road and Easterling Drive. This is your chance to make a difference in the upcoming safety and congestion improvements planned for this busy roadway.
Residents have until February 28th to participate in an online survey that aims to gather as much feedback as possible. Mayor Bobby Gutierrez has expressed great interest in hearing from residents, emphasizing the importance of community input as the city prepares to present responses to the Texas Department of Transportation, known as TxDOT.
So, what exactly is being proposed? TxDOT has plans to widen the existing two-lane highway to four lanes. This enhancement aims to ease traffic flow and improve safety by adding dedicated left-turn lanes at selected intersections. Roundabouts will also be constructed at the intersections of Coyote Run Road as well as Merka and Steep Hollow Roads. All this is part of a larger project that spans approximately 3.6 miles and will require 39 acres of new right-of-way.
Additionally, the project isn’t just for vehicles; it includes plans for pedestrian and bicycle accommodations. A shared-use path for walkers and cyclists will be established, ensuring that everyone can enjoy safer travels along this busy stretch.
TxDOT is keen on having written support from the city for this project, making it even more crucial for those who frequently travel on FM 1179 to take the time to fill out the survey. Your insight could shape the future of this vital corridor.
A new 250-acre community called Stella Ranch is set to transform Bryan’s east end, located along FM 1179. This development promises modern amenities, including two lakes, three city parks, and eight miles of walking paths, all rolled out over 15 phases. With five local builders collaborating, the project aims to merge craftsmanship with a community-focused design that locals will surely appreciate.
To help with emergency preparations, a tax-free holiday for emergency preparation supplies is currently in effect until April 29. This is a great opportunity to stock up on essential supplies should the need arise.
As Bryan continues to grow and evolve, your voice matters more than ever. Don’t miss the chance to impact the FM 1179 project by sharing your thoughts in the survey. Together, we can pave the way for a safer and more accessible community!
