Borak Family Fights Back: Standing Up to Bullying After Losing Son to Suicide

In a tale of strength and resilience, the Borak family of College Station, Texas is turning their family tragedy into hope for others. After losing their 17-year-old son, Trey, to suicide as a result of prolonged bullying and mental health issues, they are launching the STOPNOW organization in a bid to combat the horrors of bullying in their local community.

An Unending Struggle, A Life Cut Short

Only months ago, the Boraks lost Trey to the clutch of suicide, largely attributed to the continuous torment he suffered through bullying, coupled with relationship issues magnified by social media. Trey’s untimely demise has sparked an immense urgency within his parents, prompting them to take a stand to protect other children and young adults from enduring the same pain.

Battling Bullying with STOPNOW

The Bouraks, fortified and driven by their personal experience, are partnering with the renowned Uvalde Foundation to form STOPNOW. This anti-bullying and mental health organization aims to extend beyond awareness-raising by actively offering support to young people who feel trapped and helpless, similar to what Trey had felt before his untimely passing.

Through STOPNOW, the family hopes to throw a lifeline to those gripped by the terror of bullying, attempting to help them navigate and overcome their ordeal better than their beloved Trey was able to.

Disrupting the Digital Battlefield

With today’s reality where the digital realm allows for an extended scope of bullying, young people often find themselves wrestling with unique challenges that older generations may struggle to fully comprehend. Understanding this, the Boraks aim to nurture a support system complimented by the resources made accessible through STOPNOW that bridges this generational gap and offers comprehensive assistance.

The Legacy Lives On

Although the loss of Trey is a heartbreaking tragedy, his memory now fuels the drive behind STOPNOW. The Borak family is raising money for Trey’s tombstone, adding a physical testament to the meaning and significance he holds in their hearts, and in the pursuit against bullying.

The Boraks have taught us an important lesson: Out of our darkest moments come our strongest resolve. Their commitment to creating a future where no other family has to endure the torment they experienced will undoubtedly have a profound and lasting impact on their local community of College Station, and perhaps, even the world.
