College Station Police Arrest Man for Filing False Report

Jason Calhoun Arrested For Committing False Report Offense

In recent events, the College Station Police Department (CSPD) took into custody a local Bryan resident, Jason Calhoun, for the illegal act of producing counterfeit reports. Calhoun, aged 32, was accused of making two fraudulent distress complaints, the arrest report discloses.

According to the report, Calhoun made a phony report on April 25th and a subsequent deceptive statement of a fracas. Both times, officers were called out to his ex-girlfriend’s residence in response.

Sequence of Untrue Disturbance Reports

Calhoun’s ex-girlfriend shared with the authorities that he has filed false disturbance alerts to the police around five times, causing needless stress and inconvenience. These disturbance reports, she asserted, were completely without merit, the events allegedly occurring never transpired.

Authorities arrested Calhoun on May 22nd and he was set free on the same day after posting a $5,000 bond. This recent case of false reporting is not Calhoun’s first encounter with the law. Earlier, in November 2023, he had pled guilty to two misdemeanor charges of consortium violence assault, causing physical harm.

Previous Record and Sentence

Calhoun was sentenced to serve 200 days in jail for assaults occurring in June and August in 2023. Inspection of online jail documents shows he served a total of 99 days for the charges. His current act of filing false reports brings to light his past history with infringing the law.

School Board Renovations and City Council Plans

Elsewhere, the Bryan Independent School District (BISD) board members approved expenditure from their 2020 bond issue for upgrading interiors of eight primary school facilities. Ron Clary, the Maintenance and Operations Director, reported the construction was scheduled to commence last Friday, with a target completion date in early August.

Meanwhile, the College Station city council postponed a $1 million contract concerning a sewer trunkline project for the second time in a span of two months. The decision was made as the city of Bryan has yet to sign an interlocal agreement.

Mayor John Nichols expressed that while the new route of the trunkline avoids residential areas in south Bryan, it would cross into Bryan near the Burton Creek wastewater treatment plant. No set date has been determined when the council would reconsider the contract amendment.
