First off, mark your calendars for a Financial Literacy Workshop presented by Charles Schwab and Frost Bank. This event is part of a broader push to equip residents with vital financial skills that can help people better manage their personal finances. Children’s Museum Transitioning to Community Engagement

In another notable change, the Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley has announced it’s closing its Lake Walk facility and moving to an online and mobile format. Board Chair Pat Baker shared the exciting news about how the museum is looking to bring fun and education directly into the community. With plans to engage more with local schools and host signature events like the Daddy-Daughter Dance and Noon Year’s Eve, Baker mentioned that their aim is to ensure that the museum is accessible to children and families across Bryan, College Station, and beyond. The last day at the current location will be October 19th, so make sure to check out what they have to offer while you still can!

New Opportunities for Kids

This transition means that the museum will not be disappearing completely! Instead, they are expanding their reach into elementary schools, providing online learning opportunities, and engaging activities that encourage children’s creativity and knowledge. Plus, fundraising efforts are already underway to create a new, larger space at Lake Walk that can provide even more learning and playful experiences in the future!

Safety Comes First in Bryan Schools

Sam Rayburn Intermediate School who allegedly made a threat about bringing a firearm to campus. Thankfully, the authorities determined that there was no credible threat to the school’s safety. Bryan ISD takes safety incredibly seriously, partnering with local law enforcement to ensure a secure learning environment for all students. Parents and students are encouraged to report any safety concerns immediately through appropriate channels.

Brazos County Celebrates 4-H Week

On a more cheerful note, Brazos County recently celebrated National 4-H Week, highlighting its remarkable achievement of holding the fourth largest number of 4-H members in Texas – over 724 members strong! At a recent county commissioners meeting, Matt Pfiefer, the county 4-H agent, enthusiastically shared this great news as nine members of the 4-H council introduced themselves. The sense of community and youth engagement is alive and well here, and it’s fantastic to see the pride in our future leaders!
