In the charming town of Brenham, the atmosphere is buzzing with excitement as the Brenham Cubette Volleyball Team is all set to host their much-anticipated 20th Annual “Dig Pink Night” this evening. Mark your calendars because this event is particularly special—it takes place every October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The heart and soul of “Dig Pink Night” is to raise funds and awareness for a cause that touches so many lives: breast cancer. Proceeds from the night go directly to the Side Out Foundation, a wonderful non-profit organization dedicated to advancing research and treatment for breast cancer. Last year was a record-breaking event, raking in over $10,000, and the team is looking to surpass that this year with the help of the entire community.
Tonight, from 5 PM to 8 PM, everyone is invited to the Brenham High School Foyer to participate in a bucket drawing. It’s a fun way to contribute while also having the chance to win some amazing items! If you’re interested in helping out, donations for the drawing are still being accepted. Simply shoot an email to bhsvolleyball@brenhamk-12.net to donate.
In addition to the drawing, there’s something special happening before the games with a Kendra Scott Pop Up for Cause. From 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM, you can shop for some beautiful jewelry, and 20% of all purchases, both in-store and online, will be donated to the Side Out Foundation. It’s a great excuse to treat yourself or find a lovely gift while supporting an important cause!
Don’t forget to grab a “Brenham Strong” pink T-shirt for just $15. These shirts are available for purchase at home volleyball games, or you can also contact a Brenham Cubette Volleyball player to get yours. Wearing the shirt is a great way to show your support for breast cancer awareness, and let’s face it—everyone looks great in pink!
The Cubettes are gearing up to face off against College Station High School. The schedule is packed with action, starting with the JV and Freshman Green Team at 5 PM, followed by the Varsity and Freshman White Team at 6 PM. This match marks the beginning of the second half of district play, and fans are eager to see how the teams stack up after their previous meeting back on September 13, where the Lady Cougars took the win with a score of 3-1.
For those unable to attend in person, Dan Jurden and his partner will bring you all the action live on KWHI 1280 AM, 101.7 FM, and KWHI.com, kicking things off with a pregame show at 5:45 PM.
As the teams gear up for an exciting match, here’s a quick look at the current standings in District 17-5A:
This evening promises to be a memorable blend of competitive volleyball, community spirit, and invaluable fundraising efforts. So, whether you’re attending the games, participating in the drawings, or shopping at the pop-up, remember that together, we can make a difference. Let’s rally around this great cause, show our support for the Cubettes, and help raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research! Go, Cubettes!
