Event-Packed Saturday in Bryan-College Station Area

Bryan-College Station, Texas- April 13 promises an incredibly exciting and diversified calendar event, presenting various spectacles spanning market visits, yoga, festivals, and theatrical performances.

Saturday Events

Kicking off at 7 a.m., the Second Saturdays Run Club hosts their meetup at 4107 Lake Atlas Drive in Bryan. Those fond of fresh produce can head to the Aggieland Farmers Market at 8 a.m., located in the Post Oak Mall parking lot at 1500 Harvey Road in College Station. Concurrently, the Brazos Valley Farmers Market will open at 500 N. Main St. in Downtown Bryan.

Residents can also invigorate their morning with an outdoor yoga session starting at 8 a.m. at Lake Walk, 4100 Lake Atlas Drive in Bryan. Another Farmers Market awaits at 9 a.m. in Navasota Public Library, 1411 E. Washington Ave. in Navasota.

The educative Texas A&M Physics and Engineering Festival kicks off at 10 a.m., continuing till 4:30 p.m., taking place at the George P. Mitchell Physics Building on the Texas A&M campus. Furthermore, the Downtown Bryan Street & Art Fair is also starting at 10 a.m., continuing till 6 p.m., at 110 S. Main. St. in Downtown Bryan.

Excitement comes ashore with the Shipwreck Weekend starting at 10:30 a.m., held in the Anthropology Building on the Texas A&M campus. The speaker is esteemed marine archaeologist Jennifer McKinnon. A book event will be hosted at 11 a.m., with former tank commander and Texas A&M doctorate student Brian Scheel discussing his new book, “Tanker Tots” at the Barnes and Noble Bookstore at 711 Texas Ave. in College Station.

Entertainment

Mid-day sees the onset of the Mudbug and Music Festival kicking off at 11 a.m. till 7 p.m. in Lake Madison Park, Madisonville. The Fifth annual Gene Potts Memorial Steak Cookoff starts at noon at Brazos County Expo, Bryan. The Theatre Company brings “Cinderella” to life with performances at 2 and 7 p.m. “The Wizard of Oz” will also be featured by Wellborn Middle School students with the same timing. Other notable live performances include “Dancing Lessons,” presented by Unity Theatre in Brenham and “The Burial at Thebes,” in Bryan.

Music Odyssey encompasses a broad spectrum from Cory Morrow’s performance at the Palace in Downtown Bryan to Forever Simon and Garfunkel: A Tribute at The Barnhill Center, Brenham. Moreover, Century Singers and Texas A&M Women’s Chorus present their spring concerts at Rudder Theatre, College Station.

Exhibitions

The day offers an opportunity for football fans to explore “A Spirit Can Ne’er Be Told … A Century of Aggie Football” at the George Bush Presidential Library & Museum. Furthermore, Railway fans can visit “Steam, Smoke & Steel: Riding the Rails Through Time” at the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History, Bryan.
