Domestic Disturbance Leads to Stabbing in Bryan
In a surprising turn of events on March 11, the usually peaceful mobile home park in west Bryan was the scene of a domestic disturbance that left two people injured and sent one individual behind bars. The drama unfolded when a 34-year-old man, Dan Arzola, was arrested following an altercation that escalated quickly, showing just how intense family disputes can become.
The Incident Unfolds
Authorities say that Arzola first assaulted a victim by delivering a heavy punch to the face. This violent action led to a tense moment where tensions boiled over, and a juvenile saw their family member in distress. In an attempt to protect the victim, this courageous juvenile grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed Arzola in the back, thus flipping the script on this chaotic scene.
After the stabbing, Arzola didn’t just sit around. In what appeared to be a fit of rage, he damaged the victim’s vehicle before making his escape on foot, walking away from the heartbreaking scenario that had just played out. Luckily, Bryan police officers were quick to respond and found Arzola not long after. They ensured he received medical treatment for his stab wound before taking him into custody.
Charges Pile Up
As of now, Arzola is facing a series of charges, including assault for family violence, criminal damage to property, and possession of cocaine. He remains behind bars with bail set at a steep $15,000. It’s a sad tale all around that could have been avoided with a little communication and a lot less anger!
Gunfire and Arrest in Bryan
Just a day before the mobile home incident, on March 10, Bryan police were also called to a disturbance south of Henderson Park. Witnesses reported gunfire during the altercation, but fortunately, no injuries were reported from two shots fired. Law enforcement soon arrested a 28-year-old man, Zachariah Hawkins, for unlawful possession of a firearm.
Due to a prior robbery conviction in Washington County, Hawkins was not legally permitted to have a gun. The firearm was discovered right in front of him, sitting in plain view under the front passenger seat of his SUV. While he insisted the gun didn’t belong to him, Hawkins ended up spending some time in custody before being released after posting an $8,000 bond.
