Exciting Dance Festival to Transform College Station into a Cultural Hub

Exciting Dance Festival to Take Center Stage in College Station

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Get ready for an enchanting weekend filled with movement, creativity, and the art of dance! The Brazos Contemporary Dance Festival is making its way to College Station on September 13 and 14, promising an incredible showcase of talent from dancers and choreographers across Texas and beyond. This festival isn’t just a feast for the eyes; it’s also an opportunity for the community to jump in and get involved!

A Dance Tradition in Our Community

For over a decade now, this festival has been a cherished event within the local dance scene, thanks to the vision of its founder, Carisa Armstrong. She started this festival with a clear goal: to broaden the horizons of what our community has to offer in the world of dance. “We started this festival with the hope of expanding what our community offers in dance,” Armstrong shares. Her dedication has paid off as the festival has grown into a revered platform where both seasoned artists and fresh talents can showcase their work.

A Hub of Talent

This year’s festival will feature an impressive array of performers from various corners of the nation, as well as local dancers who bring their own unique flair to the stage. Performance activities will unfold at the Physical Education Activity Program Building on the Texas A&M University campus. This venue is not just a backdrop; it’s part of the rich tapestry of a community eager to embrace diverse cultural expressions.

More Than Just Performances

The Brazos Contemporary Dance Festival goes beyond mere performances—it also offers a chance for the audience and participants to feel the rhythm themselves. Attendees can join in on dance classes designed for all skill levels, guided by guest artists and experienced instructors. Jam Martinez, the event’s production manager, notes, “It’s one of my favorite parts of the festival. Not only does it give guest artists the chance to teach our students, but it also gives our students the opportunity to collaborate and network with those artists.”

A Special Performance from Local Educators

One standout performer set to grace the stage this year is Jessica Boone, a lecturer at Texas A&M University. She’s especially excited about this festival because it presents a rare opportunity: “They know me as an educator and professional choreographer, but being able to show them my work in person, right here in the studios where we practice, is going to be special.” This blend of education and performance creates a vibrant experience for both students and attendees alike.

A Unique Cultural Experience

Overall, the Brazos Contemporary Dance Festival promises to be a captivating cultural event that enhances our community’s artistic landscape. From the impressive performances to the engaging classes and networking opportunities, it invites everyone to explore the beauty and power of dance. Whether you’re a lifelong dancer or a curious newcomer, there’s something for everyone!

Join in the Fun!

This is your chance to witness the magic of dance unfold right in our backyard. Don’t miss out on the chance to support local and national talent while also diving into the joyous world of movement. Mark your calendars, gather your friends and family, and step into a spectacular weekend filled with rhythm, artistry, and community spirit!
