Brazos County, Texas – A residence in College Station has been linked to at least seven vehicle burglaries that occurred over the past weekend. The suspect, a 22-year-old male identified as Conner Zaragoza, is presently under arrest.
The suspect was witnessed breaking into vehicles in Alamosa Springs neighborhood, located near the Brazos County Expo Complex, by Bryan Police Department (BPD) officers conducting an investigation on Sunday. Officers arrested Zaragoza after halting his vehicle approximately a mile and a half away from the crime scene. Multiple firearms, which were reported as stolen, were found in his vehicle.
Some of the recovered objects date back several months and correspond to reported stolen items between Bryan and College Station. To add, a subsequent warrant search at Zaragoza’s domicile by the BPD’s Directed Deployment team revealed six firearms and a variety of stolen items linked to a minimum of seven different vehicle burglaries. The investigation has so far led to the recovery of 10 stolen firearms in total.
Zaragoza was charged with three counts of Theft of Firearm, two counts of Burglary of Vehicles, and a single count of Possession of a Controlled Substance. He is currently detained at the Brazos County Jail with a bond set at $85,000.
The Bryan Police Department (BPD) stated that this case remains as a large and continuing investigation at this time. Their preliminary investigation was able to point them to a suspect, the information of which was given to the Bryan Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit.
The BPD is reminding citizens of the importance of locking vehicle doors and removing all valuables to prevent such incidents. Anyone who witnesses or hears suspicious activity in their vicinity is strongly encouraged to call 911 or the non-emergency line at (979) 361-3888.
