Stopped for speeding, Andrade was discovered with a modified Glock 19 handgun, marijuana, and a THC vape pen. He now faces serious charges, including possession of a controlled substance and unlawful carrying of a weapon. The incident highlights the importance of responsible driving and adherence to local laws.
In an eventful day on February 26, 2025, College Station saw a startling incident that began with a routine traffic stop but quickly spiraled into something much more serious. A 19-year-old man from Brenham found himself in a heap of trouble after being stopped for speeding and other traffic violations.
It all started in the 8400 block of John Sharp Parkway when officers clocked the driver, Joe John Andrade, speeding at a brisk 72 mph in a 45 mph zone. If that wasn’t enough to raise eyebrows, Andrade also blatantly disregarded a stop sign while navigating Turkey Creek Road. This reckless driving opened the door to an investigation that led to some shocking discoveries.
While speaking with Andrade, officers conducted a search of the vehicle. What they found was more than just ordinary traffic violations. Among the belongings in the car was a Glock 19 handgun, outfitted with an added switch and an extended magazine. This kind of modification is no joke; the addition of a “Glock switch” allows a semi-automatic handgun to operate as a fully automatic weapon, which is strictly prohibited under Texas law. Possessing such a weapon can land individuals in hot water with a third-degree felony charge.
But that’s not all. Alongside the illegal firearm, officers uncovered marijuana and a THC vape pen. This discovery led to a series of charges for Andrade. He now faces several serious allegations, including:
The situation didn’t just involve Andrade. A passenger in the vehicle was also taken into custody for having a minor possession of tobacco. It seems that this traffic stop ended up being a significant operation for the officers involved, shedding light on more than just speeding violations.
Joe John Andrade is currently being held at the Brazos County Jail, with a bond set at a staggering $23,000. The young man, who was initially just behind the wheel with a need for speed, finds himself in a situation that many would find overwhelming. Legal battles and serious repercussions await him as he navigates through the consequences of his choices.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible behavior while driving and the serious consequences that can arise from seemingly small decisions. From speeding to gun laws, this case encapsulates a variety of issues that the community must remain aware of.
As we follow this story in College Station, it is essential for residents to stay informed about local laws and regulations concerning firearms, drugs, and road safety. The ripple effects of one night’s actions can lead to life-changing consequences. Keep your eyes on the road and your actions within the law! Stay safe out there, College Station.
