College Station Ranks Among Top College Towns, Celebrates Texas A&M’s Achievements

College Station Shines Once Again!

College Station, Texas, is basking in the spotlight as it continues to be recognized for its charm and student-friendly atmosphere. With exciting new achievements, this bustling college town is making headlines for all the right reasons!

A Premier College Town

Recently, WalletHub released its rankings of the best college towns in America, and guess what? College Station tied with Missoula, Montana, taking the honorable fourth spot in the small city category, which includes towns boasting populations under 125,000! Not only that, but our beloved College Station ranked a stellar 23rd overall among the top 400 college towns in the entire country.

WalletHub based their rankings on an impressive 31 key indicators that highlight academic, social, and economic opportunities for students. They looked closely at factors like cost of living, crime rates, and, of course, the quality of higher education. As Chip Lupo, a WalletHub analyst, aptly pointed out, choosing the right college is vital, but selecting a great college town is just as crucial. He emphasized that towns that offer a low cost of living and a vibrant social scene make for a far more enjoyable and less stressful college experience. It’s all about finding that perfect balance!

Texas A&M University Recognized

Speaking of great colleges, Texas A&M University is also riding high on a wave of recognition. In fact, the university was recently ranked as the top university in Texas and an impressive 11th best public university in the nation for 2025. The only other Texas school to break into the top 30 is Rice University, which came in at 29th. Pretty impressive company, if you ask us!

A&M has gained recognition not just for its overall excellence, but specifically for its College of Engineering, which was named a top 10 public engineering school by a respected publication. Plus, their Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering snagged the title of the very best in the nation. Talk about setting the bar high!

In even more good news, the College of Engineering also led the way with record-breaking engineering research expenditures, hitting a remarkable $444.7 million in fiscal year 2023. The Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering, which works closely with both the College of Engineering and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, also secured the top spot in the nation. Go Aggies!

Community Buzz

But not all news is happy in paradise. There’s a beloved bar that’s been a staple for many in the community that recently announced its final day will be December 8th. That announcement certainly brought a wave of nostalgia among locals who have created countless memories within those walls.

The Future is Bright!

For students and residents alike, the vibrant atmosphere in College Station, combined with the honors being showered upon Texas A&M University, makes for an eventful and promising future. The city continues to prove that it’s not just about the education—it’s about the entire experience! Whether you’re a student, future graduate, or lifelong resident, College Station truly has something special to offer.

As always, stay tuned for more updates, events, and exciting news coming out of this incredible town!
