New report reveals College Station as top spot for retirees

College Station Surges as a Popular Retirement Destination

The city of College Station, Texas is rapidly gaining popularity among retirees, according to a fresh report from the US Census Bureau. The study places College Station in the top five fastest-growing retirement populations in America. Furthermore, an article by Realtor.com underlines that four cities in Texas are among the top 10 favorite moves for retirees, and College Station is one of them.

Affordable Living, Lower Taxes, and Much More

Retirees are flocking to College Station due to its affordable housing, lower taxes, and overall quality of life offering. Local healthcare, retail, recreational options, and entertainment are attracting retirees from across the country. One such retiree, Zanna Bickham, who fled the isolation of West Texas, particularly highlights the high livability of College Station.”My husband and I were debating on four towns, and College Station was one of them,” recalled Bickham, now happily settled in College Station. She noted that the friendly vibe of the city, the ease of access to amenities, and the excellent medical facilities stands out.

Increasing Demand for Retirement Homes

The burgeoning trend has been noted by the Langford Retirement Community, where demand for places in the facility has drastically spiked. “We have been at full capacity for the last year or so,” revealed Lisa Miller, a sales counselor at the organization. “We’ve been open for six years. But as we were growing, we filled up incredibly fast.” The Langford Retirement Community isn’t the only facility experiencing high demand. New senior living communities, including Woodland Cottages and Lakeside at Millican Reserve, are under development to cater to the increasing interest.

Growing Popularity Among Retirees

As the retirement population continues to grow, College Station has seen the reasons behind its surging popularity. The proximity to vital services, negligible traffic woes, range of attractions, and a genuinely pleasant environment has established the city as a retirement hotspot. With multiple developments underway, College Station is well-equipped to welcome a growing number of retirees in the future, ensuring that they have a delightful place to settle down in their golden years.
