In a swift response to criminal activities, the College Station Police Department has successfully apprehended three individuals involved in notable crimes – including a second significant act of shoplifting, theft of an SUV, and human smuggling.
In College Station, 49-year-old Elizabeth Nance was apprehended on Saturday for her involvement in a burglary operation that saw her and two others steal over $1,500 worth of items from the Tractor Supply store. Appallingly, this marks Nance’s second involvement in a major theft scheme in just 15 days. Previously, Nance was arrested and released on bond for her part in shoplifting over $3,800 worth of merchandise from a Murdoch’s store. However, she is now facing charges for driving with an invalid license, possessing illegal substances, and yet another case of shoplifting. Nance’s bond has presently been set at $19,000.
46-year-old Anthony Riley is the infamous figure behind the theft of an SUV from a construction site. Arrested previously for a DWI, Riley was apprehended once more when the stolen SUV was tracked down by the victim’s boss. Riley attempted to escape by abandoning the vehicle and fleeing the scene, however, he left behind his phone which facilitated his subsequent capture. Currently held behind bars, Riley’s bond is set at $5,000.
In a separate case, authorities responded to a fight at a Northgate district restaurant when they stumbled upon 22-year-old Emilio Murillo-Tovar Jr., a man wanted by the U.S. Marshals for his involvement in human smuggling. On top of this federal crime, Tovar also faced charges for failing to identify himself to police and carrying a slew of illegal substances. Tovar is currently detained in Brazos County jail, ineligible for bond due to his federal warrant.
These cases contribute to a troubling spike in criminal activity in the College Station area. With these latest arrests, the focused efforts of local law enforcement have yielded important results in mitigating these crimes. As investigations continue, residents are urged to carry themselves with caution and to report any suspicious activity immediately.
