On June 7th, 2024, College Station police arrested a former nursing home employee, 26-year-old Treandranique Green, charged with assaulting an elderly resident. According to the arrest report, police obtained video evidence from last February showing Green’s unprofessional conduct towards the 81-year-old victim.
The shocking video allegedly shows Green trying to administer medication to the senior resident. She reportedly did so by laughing and placing her knee into the side of the victim’s body. The aggression didn’t stop there; Green is seen sitting on the frail resident, poking her face and chest, pouring water on her face, and verbally taunting her. The College Station police report states that attempts to speak with Green prior to her arrest were unsuccessful. Post her arrest, she was released after posting a $20,000 bond.
The incident has rocked the nursing home, leaving administrators and caregivers in a state of shock and disbelief. Despite the severe nature of these allegations, no official statement from the nursing home has come forward regarding the unfortunate incident or Green’s employment status at the time of the incident.
The incident has fueled an uproar within the local College Station community, with many calling for stricter regulations and background checks for nursing home staff. Residents and family members are demanding reassurances about their loved ones’ safety in the nursing home.
The legal proceedings will commence shortly, and the consequences for Green, if found guilty, could be severe. Charges of neglect, abuse, and assault could lead to significant penalties, including imprisonment and fines. Equally pressing is the impending civil lawsuit that will hold the nursing home responsible for failing to provide a safe environment for its residents.
This incident underlines the importance of taking care of our senior citizens, especially those relying on assisted living facilities for their survival. Incidents of elder abuse and neglect should never be tolerated or overlooked; it’s our responsibility as a society to ensure our elders receive the care, respect, and dignity they absolutely deserve in their sunset years.
