A 27-year-old man, known as Various McNeal, has found himself behind bars after allegedly breaking into an elderly woman’s apartment, leading to a shocking encounter that has left many residents feeling unsettled.

The Incident

According to court documents, McNeal invaded the woman’s apartment and began a random attack. He reportedly threatened her life while holding her neck with his hands. For a harrowing five minutes, the woman endured the assault until she bravely managed to separate herself from McNeal. To escape the situation and seek help, she injured herself while attempting to grab the attention of her neighbors. After the assault, police reports indicate that McNeal was seen trying to cover his tracks by using window cleaner in a desperate attempt to erase fingerprints from the scene. Thanks to the cooperation of the survivor, investigators managed to piece together crucial evidence, which included witness testimonies and a composite sketch. Additionally, officers utilized body camera footage from a previous encounter with McNeal back in August to confirm his identity. Authorities quickly arrested McNeal, who now faces a daunting list of charges, including burglary of a habitation with intent to commit a sexual offense, aggravated sexual assault, and tampering with evidence. However, this isn’t McNeal’s first brush with the law. Court documents reveal that he has a significant criminal history, accumulating offenses such as five burglary charges, two strangulation incidents, domestic battery, home invasion, and grand larceny, much of which can be traced back to Las Vegas, Nevada.

A Troubling Past

The uncovering of McNeal’s past raises a few eyebrows. Notably, an arrest report from 2015 reveals an incident where McNeal and a younger accomplice attempted to break into a family’s home. However, they were thwarted by a courageous 14-year-old boy armed with his father’s rifle. More recently, McNeal faced an arrest in May, but details surrounding that encounter remain unclear.

“She does have physical, and of course, emotional needs to be able to take off some time from work. So, we want to help support not only just house bills and normal things but also food,” Clark shared.
