COLLEGE STATION, TX – A sudden fire at an apartment complex on Central Park Lane was successfully managed by the College Station Fire Department on Thursday morning.

Emergency Response Instigated

According to Capt. Stuart Marrs of the College Station Fire Department, a 911 call was made just after 9:15 a.m. The caller reported seeing smoke and flames emanating from the building. Responding to the emergency call, 11 fire department units, encompassing 28 firefighters and one fire investigator, were dispatched to the location.

Quick Action From Staff and Firefighters Protects Residents

Upon arrival of the fire emergency units, apartment complex employees were already alerting neighbors by knocking on doors. Their swift action assisted in the successful evacuation of the building’s occupants. Three pets were also rescued from the building and subsequently reunited with their owners.

Fire Control Achieved Promptly

The fire crew was able to bring the fire situation under control by 9:27 a.m., merely 12 minutes after the initial emergency call. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Fire Investigation Results

Initial investigation into the fire points towards it being an unintentional cooking fire. Verification of this cause is currently underway.

Implications of the Incident

While this incident fortunately resulted in no injuries, it serves as a stark reminder for residents to practice caution in everyday activities such as cooking, and to maintain active fire prevention measures, reinforced by early warning systems.

Now the aftermath: Recovery and Rebuilding

With the fire now extinguished, the focus of everyone involved has shifted to recovery and rebuilding. Damage assessments will be needed to determine the full extent of the impact on the affected building and its occupants. The local community, along with government and non-government organizations, will likely be involved in supporting those displaced or distressed by the incident.

College Station officials continue to monitor the situation closely, ensuring the safety of residents and proper protocol enforcement. These incidents truly emphasize the invaluable service provided by emergency responders such as the College Station Fire Department, working tirelessly to maintain community safety and wellbeing.
