Investigation Continues Into College Station Double Homicide: Neighbors Speak Up

Investigation Continues in the Recent Double Homicide in College Station, Texas

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – A double homicide that took place on the evening of Thursday in front of a duplex located across the street from Wolf Pen Creek Park continues to be under investigation by the authorities. The incident that led to the death of two people and left one injured had caused a backup of traffic on State Highway 6 South near William J Bryan Parkway on Friday. The College Station Police Department cordoned off the area to gather evidence linked to the incident, stalling all traffic along the route.

Michael Epperson, 19, is currently in custody, arrested in relation to the fatal shooting after fleeing to Bell County.

Neighbors Speak Up Amidst Unfamiliar Unrest

The entire incident has caused a sense of unease among the residents of the otherwise peaceful neighborhood. Kaiwen Wong, a local resident whose routine includes walking his dog in the area every day, shared his personal sentiment, “We walk the dog here every day. There’s a park nearby, lots of people, lots of folks around. Kids and families and whatnot.” For Wong and other residents, the incident has shaken their sense of safety in what they considered a peaceful environment.

Impact Beyond Personal Safety

For Duan Liu, a neighbor who owns a duplex renting out units and run an AirBnB in the area, concerns extend beyond personal safety to the potential for financial hit due to the incident. Speaking on the incident, Liu said, “I hope it’s not any of my tenants to get killed. It looks like it’s okay for us. But this, this area, we consider as peace, a quiet area.” According to Liu, incidents such as these could negatively impact his business due to the fear they instill among prospective tenants and guests.

Routine Adjustments: Staying Safe

In the midst of concerns and anxieties, residents are adjusting to a new reality. Wong, for example, is planning to alter his daily routine to maximize his safety, particularly adjusting his outdoor activities to ensure that he is indoors by sundown. “I’ll definitely be more careful, and avoid certain maybe, after 8 don’t come out or something like that,” he said, echoing the sentiments of multiple other residents taking proactive safety measures.

No Comments Yet from the Authorities

In a bid to gather updates on the double murder investigation, attempts have been made to reach out to the College Station Police Department. However, they have not yet provided any additional comment, choosing to wait until the ongoing investigation reaches a more definitive stage.
