In 1988, Richard Mayer founded KBSI in his garage with a humble Mac Plus. Thanks to its outstanding contributions to the fields of technology and cybersecurity, KBSI was nominated for recognition by BAE Systems, a company that KBSI had subcontracted for in the past. After winning Small Business Subcontractor of the Year for Region 6, the South Central Region, KBSI earned national recognition by bagging the National Subcontractor of the Year award.

When Mayer received the news, he was shocked and humbled. “Getting some National recognition is really great for a small company out of College Station,” beamed Reynolds.
